Whiteboards technical setup for Server and Data Center instances of Jira/Confluence

Certain network connections must be allowed to use Whiteboards on your Jira or Confluence instance hosted on Server or Data Center. Whiteboards uses the Google Cloud Platform to perform its operations.

Allowing server communication enables you to use Whiteboards on Server or Data Center instances but also to use Jira tickets on the board and make edits as you work without switching software.

For Whiteboards to work in your Server/Data Center instance, please allow the connection for:

  • IP: 35.232.138.12

  • Port: 443 (this is the port our backend is trying to reach).

Doing so allows us to connect to our API and make requests to your Jira Server.

Communication with servers

Any requests made from our web application are made by the person using Whiteboards. They’re usually connected to a company network (either directly or via a VPN), so all requests made to the Jira Server instance are made within that network; they don’t come from outside.

The graph illustrates the connections that allow Whiteboards to work. The connections to the Whiteboards SPA Application and Google Cloud Platform VPC are the most important and must be allowed in your Jira/Confluence instance.

Opening up the port and allowing the connection to our IP in your Atlassian product is crucial to use Whiteboards.
